Senior Research Fellow

Sung-mok’s research focuses on the transmission and control of infectious diseases, with particular emphasis on predicting epidemic trajectories across both short-term forecasting and longer-term projections. Through his contributions to national-level COVID-19 response teams in South Korea, Japan, and the United States, he has developed a strong interest in strengthening outbreak response capacity by integrating diverse modelling frameworks with novel data streams to generate actionable insights that inform timely and effective interventions.

Outside of work, he trades epidemic curves for boxing and Muay Thai training, but strictly at a recreational level.
